Guided Tour and Talk with Rrreefs
Jean Painlevé, Anémone de mer, 1929 © Les Documents Cinématographiques / Archives Jean Painlevé, Paris
Marie Griesmar, Ulrike Pfreundt and Hannah Kuhfuß, the founders of Rrreefs, a young organisation based in Zurich and Berlin, present their work, which combines science and technology with art and education. Rrreefs aims to protect underwater worlds and coral reefs threatened by environmental damage. The organisation combines the findings from their own research with 3D printing techniques to strengthen the reefs. With reference to Painlevé's documentation of the underwater world, Rrreefs give an insight into their commitment to marine flora and fauna and show how science, technology and art can help to protect the environment.
The event takes place in German.
Admission: CHF 12.– (for members and reduced CHF 10.–), plus admission to the exhibition

Jean Painlevé – Feet in the Water. French film director Jean Painlevé (1902–1989) had a passion for scientific cinema. He was interested in engaging a broad audience in the discovery of natural science through film and devoted most of his life to documenting fauna – especially species from the underwater world. Over a period of more than 50 years, Painlevé shot over 200 short films. The films, photographs, and documents in the exhibition reflect not only his engagement with science but also his desire to share the mysteries of living matter and creatures that inhabit Earth.
