Educated as a sociologist, Jakob Kolding explores modernist architecture and art, testing its suitability to everyday life and criticizing its ideologically laden master plans. As an artist, he can leave behind the hermetic world of science and allow other references into his work, such as fragments of song lyrics and quotations. He puts his black-and-white printed collages in protected spaces, such as (art) institutions, as well as in the city itself, thus returning his themes directly to the public.
