Between 2000 and 2006 Joakim Eskildsen and his partner, Cia Rinne, travelled through seven different countries in search of Roma communities: from Hungary to India, from Greece and Romania to Finland, via France and Russia. In some countries, casual friendships and suggested itineraries were the result of curiosity and coincidence, while in others, meetings were set up with the assistance of relief agencies. The Roma Journeys is a personal photographic record of many respectful encounters.
