Reto Camenisch’s profound black-and-white photographs are images of experience and longing. They suggest the experience of someone who goes out in order to stop off someplace, who sets out on adventure in order to arrive somewhere, to return home. His images visualize an existential search; they are photographic, traces of his memories of innocence, of being nestled into bed, and cared for. They symbolize a temporary escape from the raging pace of the present, but also appear to herald the decline of a nature that shapes and generates itself, as it gives way to a nature created by humans.
